Exorder is one of those not overly-complicated tactical turn-based games with simple rules and dangerous depths. It features a single-player fantasy campaign and a multiplayer skirmishes, both online and offline.
A great turn based strategy that has the soul of Advance Wars mixed with swords and magic. Along with the entertaining campaign the multiplayer is a blast and with both online and offline modes will keep you entertained for a long time.
Exorder is not a bad game, nor a masterpiece. It delivers a nice narrative and a good variety of units, but the gameplay is a bit dull, with no real elements that can push to create complex tactics.
At times bland, Exorder can also be fun to play. A lack of reward for any achievements contributes to a sense of no progression, but that's compensated by the complexity you'll find in troop types and maps. In sum, an option to consider if you like turn-based games.
Exorder is a nice but too simple game to be released anywhere but on mobile platforms. Playing it on a PC is like trying to run Angry Birds on a 40-inch TV.
Any genre aficionado will breeze through the campaign in a few hours, and multiplayer skirmishes are simply not worth it. Still, the game has a redeeming quality – if you have a small kid and you want to help him grasp the basics of strategy games, Exorder will be a surprisingly good fit. [Issue#227, p.44]
Exorder is a technically sound game save for optimization issues, but fails to present a personality of its own or stand out from the crowd with any unique or creative aspects. With poor visuals, bland gameplay and a barely existent storyline coupled with the mobile-game feel leave a sour taste in one’s mouth after playing.
Exorder certainly has some potential, but it ultimately has a few issues with the UI and balancing of the campaign missions. Playing around in Skirmish mode was fun for a few minutes and the campaign certainly started on the right note, but the over-emphasis on escort missions spoiled the broth somewhat. With room for expansion, there’s perhaps something to Exorder later down the line, but it’s a difficult proposition at this juncture.
