Welcome to the battlefield! Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon is a fantasy war game set in the Second War of Armageddon. You take the role of defending the planet as the Imperium of Man against the Ork invaders. Throughout the campaign you will also be joined by three chapters of Space Marines: the Salamanders, Blood Angels and the Ultramarines.
In this hex-based, turn-based strategy game, players will lead the Imperial forces of the Armageddon Steel Legion and Space Marines from a variety of Chapters against the Ork invasion through over 30 scenarios, on the hostile terrain of the planet and its gigantic Hive Cities. The game features a complex plot, involving known characters from the Warhammer 40,000 universe and while advancing through the campaign, the player will have the ability to carryover his core force from scenario to scenario. Players fight alongside Commissar Yarrick and Commander Dante against the cunning Ork Warboss Ghazghkull Thraka and carry over battle-hardened veterans from scenario to scenario, using their experience and upgrading their equipment.
On top all this extensive modding options are available through a powerful and easy-to-use game editor.
Is it disappointing that units in Warhammer 40,000 are so simple in presentation? Sure, especially when you consider how monotone many of the "apocalyptic" environments are. But given the choice between a game like this an a major studio producing a Warhammer game that fails to even understand where the real appeal of Warhammer lies, I'll take a game like Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon any time.
Generally speaking, Panzer Corps is a better game, but Warhammer 40K nerds will be able to look past the balance problems and enjoy one of the few true wargames based on the GW lore.
Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon is a good turn-based strategy experience, but in the future Slitherine should try to innovate a little more and introduce more unique mechanics that suit the nature of the universe it is working with.
Warhammer 40,000 : Armageddon is a remarkable adaptation of the rules of Warhammer 40K but is quite overshadowed by its poor technical quality and its inability to show all the interesting information on screen. This game will be very attractive for lovers of Games Workshop's products but it will be almost unnoticed by the rest of strategy gamers.
Warhammer 40K: Armageddon is a simplified Panzer Corps in a classic and beloved sci-fi world. Hardcore strategy fans may invest in a fair price drop.

Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon is a title that feels like it’s about 10 years older than it actually is. In the 40K universe, I’m pretty sure people get executed for failing their duties as spectacularly as this.
