The greatest heroines of the Nitroplus visual novels come together in a battle royale! Choose from 12 core characters (plus two DLC characters), bring any two of 20 partners, and build up your Power Gauge to unleash your awe-inspiring Lethal Blaze! When an ancient evil awakens, blurring the boundaries between worlds, she brings together the mightiest champions from across the multiverse. As they struggle to comprehend her strange realm, she presents them all with a challenge: Fight to prove that their worlds are worthy to go on living. Though the champions come from wildly different backgrounds, with a variety of strengths and weaknesses, all of them share the same goal: Defeat all the others, prove themselves to be the strongest, and protect every last thing they hold dear.
It might sound crazy but I find Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel a better brawler than more widely known Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-, also an anime-style beat 'em up just recently converted to PC. I really appreciate the clean and crisp nature of Nitroplus Blasterz, both in presentation and gameplay, while Guilty Gear seems too often a blundering mess of too many effects and things happening at the same time, making the player feel a bit lost. As I have understood, the freaky Saya alone from the visual novel Saya no Uta (The Song of Saya) as a playable character is a reason enough for many fans to get Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel. Why not, and there are lots of other cool and fun to girls to play with!
While the fighting mechanics and especially the assist feature in the game are very well done, if you don’t have another person to play with, you’re going to have about three hours of fun until you’re left with nothing to do. Maybe after a Steam sale people will pick it up, which they should. It’s a very good fighting game, but until then, I would say for anyone out there a Steam sale would be the ideal time to pick up Nitroplus Blasterz.
This game of fisticuffs quickly falls flat due to its lack of expected depth and content most modern fighting games can offer.
On the whole, Nitroplus Blasterz Heroines Infinite Duel is a quality 2D fighter, even if it lacks the narrative in needed and the characterisation that would have made it more effective as fanservice. All I can recommend is that you give the game a chance until you've managed to topple the boss, because from that point on you'll probably find yourself with a game that has a combat system you'll quite enjoy.
