It's more than stupid, it's so moronic it becomes something almost sublime. [Issue#249, p.66]
As long as the modders keep doing what they do best, it’s possible to never run out of things for your goat to destroy.
I can’t bring myself to award Goat Simulator an outstanding score because it’s not an outstanding game, by its own admission. There are many, many things wrong with it. Yet I can’t also deny the fact that it’s enjoyable – it’s funny, it’s a ridiculous ride and it (obviously) doesn’t purport to be anything other than a bit of a laugh.
Does this game deserve a 10/10 because of its ingenuity, or should it be scored a 7/10 because it lacks modes and variation? Is it a 5/10 because it’s not really a game? Or is it a 0/10 because, really, who would pay good money just to run around as a digital goat? In the end, Coffee Stain Studios delivered what it promised, a ridiculous game featuring goats and explosions.
It might have started off as a joke, but the funny thing about Goat Simulator is that it’s a much better game than it has any right to be.
Goat Simulator is meant as a joke, and you can tell. It's hilarious, for an hour. When you've seen everything there won't be much to do and the bugs and controls will soon simply annoy instead of delight.
This is a 10-minute laugh, if that – the kind of thing that's here today, gone tomorrow, but for a brief moment in history is the talk of Shoreditch and Twitter. It's the gaming equivalent of a novelty single and even the developers, to give credit where it's due, recommend you don't buy it. Listen to them.
