Take on the role of Tactics in a brand new Frozen Synapse experience. Lead a rebel faction to overthrow a powerful corporation controlling the city of Markov Geist. Control an elite strike team of futuristic soldiers - From shotgunners and snipers, to grenadiers and machine-gunners in the ultimate turn-based strategy game.
Plot paths and issue orders to your units, test your plans and predict your opponent in each turn. Combat plays out on procedural, 3D, destructible and customizable battlefields. Play online to become the ultimate tactician – Synchronous play allows you to battle against players live.
Asynchronous multiplayer enables you to compete in multiple games simultaneously.
Prime’s simultaneous turn structure makes for a tense experience that’s both intelligent and rewarding. It deftly avoids the tedium that can sometimes plague strategy games, but still provides incredible depth for those with the patience to enjoy it.
If you know the original strategy gem be aware: This is rather a visually updated remake than a new iteration. But nonetheless the concept still is as fresh as interesting.
On PS3 I think I would have rated it a bit higher as well given it stands out among the gaming catalogue for that system. But on PC, turn based tactical strategy games is a much more crowded field, and amongst that variety, Frozen Tactics Prime is good but not great.
It's a pretty good game with a handful of hindrances that prevent it from being great. It's solid for an indie game but feels a bit flimsy somehow, as more depth would have greatly improved the experience.
