All About Tower Offense vs. Tower Defense Anomaly 2 is a sequel to the critically acclaimed Anomaly Warzone Earth. Maintaining the core elements of the original, Anomaly 2 PC adds new features to the single-player campaign and finally puts your skills to a test in a completely unique experience: the dynamic tower defense vs.
tower offense multiplayer mode! In the years following the invasion of Earth in 2018, the planet is overrun by alien machines. Humankind is on the verge of extinction. Banded together in huge convoys, they search the frozen tundra for food and supplies.
Since the war, the roles have been reversed: now our species seems to be the Anomaly on a machine-controlled planet. Your convoy, Commander, is called Yukon. Anomaly 2 takes the RTS tower-offense concept from Anomaly Warzone Earth to a new level.
The core elements of the original – tactical planning and the on-field Commander to support troops in combat – are spiced up by a number of important new features.
Although Anomaly 2 is a sequel there isn't anything else quite like it. The game still feels fresh and its multiplayer is a blast to play. We therefore would recommend the game to everyone.
Anomaly 2 is the perfect sequel for a great game, an exciting proposal in the tower defense genre.
Anomaly: Warzone Earth was a well-designed and entertaining alternative to typical tower defence games, and Anomaly 2 is its bigger, badder sibling. Levels are better designed and more varied, you have more unique units and abilities at your disposal, towers are generally even bigger bastards than they were before, and the dev team’s experience means that the basic mechanics are generally more polished.
Anomaly 2 is the perfect sequel for a great game, since it brings a series of new features, units, enemies and modes. Those who enjoyed the first episode will not be disappointed, definitely.
In the same way I've appraised Anomaly: Warzone Earth with score of eight for its unique approach to a tower defense style, I must highlight Anomaly 2 for taking the idea to perfection. Even with its relatively short gameplay, authors' thoroughness and diligence mirror in their impressive game.
While Anomaly 2 will be easy enough for people who have played the original, it can be a challenge to pick-up and play for newbies - especially once you advance onto the later levels where things heat up.
Here Anomaly 2 is trying to reinvent its own wheel with little tiny incremental upgrades instead of taking the same drastic approach that gained it such praise in the first place. The result isn’t something groundbreaking; the result is a confused and missed opportunity that has more in common with RTS games in every wrong way possible.
