Virtua Tennis 4 is more than just hitting the ball; it's about the angle of the racquet, the spin and speed of the ball and the power of the shot. The advanced motion sensors of PlayStation Move precisely track both the fast and subtle movements of the controller allowing for pinpoint accurate shots as players improve their racquet skills. Virtua Tennis 4 PC will also support 3D technology delivering unprecedented realism to the tennis experience, bringing you closer than ever to being out on the court.
Virtua Tennis 4 comes as a spectacular mix of strengths and weaknesses, a title that Dreamcast nostalgics will surely enjoy. The fact is it doesn't have what it takes to compete with Top Spin 4, which has brought the genre to new levels, especially in terms of realism and depth. A good fourth episode, definitely, but the series desperately needs some major improvements.
The right game for beginners: uncomplicated and remarkably entertaining tennis. Just press start, lean back and have fun.
SEGA could have used its money and influence to elevate Virtua Tennis to the level of EA's FIFA franchise, but, judging by the lack of tangible progress in this installment, I guess SEGA just doesn't care.
It's nothing close to a serious tennis simulator, but it's packed with so much fun that you simply don't care. [Sept 2011, p.91]
Virtua Tennis keeps its arcade style but unfortunately it soon turns into a spiritless stereotype play. [Issue#207]
