It's 1946 and the Nazis are on the verge of winning WWII. In attmepting to turn the tide in the allies’ favor, B. J.
Blazkowicz has to embark on an epic, two-part mission deep within Bavaria… Part one of Wolfenstein: The Old Blood - Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves - pits BJ Blazkowicz against a notorious prison warden as he breaks into Castle Wolfenstein in an attempt to steal the coordinates to General Deathshead’s compound. In the second part – The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs – our hero's search for the coordinates leads him to the city of Wulfburg where an obsessed Nazi archaeologist is exhuming enigmatic artifacts that threaten to unleash a dark and ancient power.
Wolfenstein The Old Blood is also available on XBox One.
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a great follow-up to The New Order, adding plenty of adventures for BJ, not to mention new enemies, weapons, and more. Throw in the Nightmare stages and you have a compelling package with great value for your money.
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a short but intense experience that happily blends the innovation of The New Order with the tradition of Return of Castle Wolfenstein.
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is an incredibly fun standalone expansion to one of the Best games of 2014, and in plenty of places is tougher.
The Old Blood feels like two Wolfenstein games mushed together. The first half of the game is really good, but the enjoyment is truly lacking during the second half, when you’re fighting against bullet-sponge-y enemies and endlessly spawning zombies. [June 2015]
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is an old school FPS game, with frantic and intense gunplay, good variety of guns and some strong cliffhangers. However, has some AI enemy problems and poor stealth mechanics.
Old Blood is a good expansion to a great game. I wanted more Wolfenstein, and that’s exactly what I got here. Sure, it’s neither as inventive nor as heartfelt as New Order, but it’s a solid piece of content that’s still leagues better than most shooters. If you liked New Order, I’d recommend checking it out.
All in all, the series could have done without this expansion. It is far cry from last year’s awesome Wolfenstein: The New Order, and if you’re itching to shoot Nazi zombies, better look in Zombie Army Trilogy.
